Hey guys, so after much thought it looks like the LS430 will be my next daily driver. I know there are a couple of LS400 owners on here, but haven’t seen many (if any) mention the 430.
I’ll be looking at an 04 and up, so if you have any interesting information or wheel time with one, let me know! Or if you have any other Japanese alternatives, drop a comment.
Have a couple of 430's for your time

I prefer the 1st and 2nd gen LS400 for the 1uz engine but I’m sure the LS430 is just as nice. You can’t really go wrong with Lexus.
sm70- why not Duesenberg?

Hah, my dad is looking at an LS430 as well. Avoid the Ultra (air suspension is a $9,000 job at the dealer, $4,500 DIY) and aim for the 90,000 mile timing belt change to have been done. You’ll be looking around $8k in good condition with low miles(~100,000, but it’s a Lexus).

LS430 has the 3UZ, a basic evolution o the 1UZ so engine no problems. Avoid air suspension unless you’re up for the cost, avoid Nav because it ages hard. Get a LS430 “Sport” I believe for the better suspension and the great looking wheels.

A relative had one for an extended period of time and found that you can do a 60-120 pull without waking the front passenger.

Nav gives you mark levenson, which is worth the tradeoff.

Check for transmission fluid change. The 04-06 has a “sealed” transmission, but you should still get the service done. Also, the 04 had a transmission recall. Other than that, theres torn Mark Levenson subwoofer, door lock actuators, and side mirror switch. All of those are really easy fixes. Check the suspension components, turn the wheel lock to lock a couple times to hear for clicking noises, try out all the electronics (the tilt wheel and automatic headrests, and listening for squeaking of components). Windows can get stuck and the window tracks might require cleaning. Other than that, they’re pretty great cars. MPG is around 13-15 in the city, 22-26 on the highway.
